Spotlight: Sustainability

Sustainability is a hot topic for us these days and North Vancouver Canada Day features a lot of neat activities and displays that address the ways we can be sustainable. This year, we are featuring a solar power taxi, Easywash, an eco-friendly car wash company, bicycle valet service provided by the Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition and the Evergreen environmental organization to name a few. Here are some of the things these attractions do:

The Vancouver Electric Vehicle Association proudly presents the Solartaxi, a solar powered vehicle that is currently traveling around the world, educating about the many sophisicated solutions to the global climate situation. On July 3rd, 2007 the Solartaxi left for its world trip and has been travelling the world ever since. To learn more about the Solartaxi, please visit: www.solartaxi.com/mission.

The Vancouver Area Cycling Coalition (VACC)is a volunteer-run non-profit society whose members work to improve conditions for cycling in the Lower Mainland. The VACC believes that increased bicycle use has the potential to: reduce traffic congestion, improve our health and enhance our urban environment. VACC's mission is to make cycling an integral part of the transportation culture. For more information about VACC, please visit: www.vacc.bc.ca.

Easywash, a company that considers itself the "World's Most Eco-friendly Carwash Company" was founded by Geoff Baker and Laura-Lee Normandeau.
